Remembering 9/11

As much as today is about honoring the thousands of fallen friends and family who died on September 11th, it is also about something much more.

Today we are here to honor heroes.

Since the events of the horrific morning on 9-11 right up until today – we have shown the world who we truly are as a country.

America is a nation of heroes.

Our heroes are the men and women killed when planes slammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Our heroes are the workers and first responders – the police and firefighters who ran INTO the fire to save lives.

Our heroes are passengers willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to save many others by fighting back in the skies above the Pennsylvania countryside.

Our heroes are the men and women of the armed forces – waging the war on terror in Afghanistan and Iraq and the men and women of local law enforcement – ensuring our homeland security right here in our hometown.

Each of theses heroes speaks to what we know - It is our fundamental nature to ensure our freedom, whatever the cost or sacrifice.

No matter the test before us as a nation, we will perserver.

It is as Lincoln said:

“The fight must go on. The cause of freedom must not be surrendered at the end of one or even one hundred defeats.”

We are a nation of heroes.

We always have been.

We always will be.

May God continue to Bless the United States of America.
