YMCA Capital Campaign

Look at that Steering Committee! I’m impressed and thankful to have them with us today – and with me on a very important mission upon which we are about to embark. To the members of this committee – I appreciate your personal commitment to joining with me to achieve this goal.

Honorary Chairs George Deukmejian, Beverly O’Neill and Ken Walker. Committee Chairs Ron Piazza, Charlie Nunn, Jack Dilday, Susan Anderson Wise and Paul Perry, Sue Baker, Alicia Orozco and Shirley Murtaugh.
 

Why do you suppose that these community leaders - and all of you - have taken your time to be here today?
 

Most likely because you may have had - or are having - the same or a similar experience as I with the YMCA…and that resulted in a genuine caring for the YMCA, what it does, what it represents, and its potential as a premier non-profit in greater Long Beach.
 

We plan to raise $14 million dollars! This is an incredible goal the YMCA is about to embark on.  It has been over 30 years since the YMCA has set a goal like this that will take the entire organization to where it needs to be to serve future generations. I have no doubt we will meet this goal. When we do – it will make certain the YMCA has the tools necessary to expand its positive and inclusive message. It will also ensure the YMCA can continue to meet the needs of this local community it has been serving for 122 years. Most importantly, meeting this goal will ensure children have a place to grow and learn for generations to come.
