Hypertension Reaches New High In Los Angeles County Adults

Hypertension is on the rise among Los Angeles County adults. A report issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health indicates that the percentage of adults countywide who have been diagnosed with hypertension increased from 18% in 1997 to 25% in 2005, a rise of nearly 40%.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has announced the creation of a groundbreaking new position, the Hepatitis Coordinator. This marks the first time such an appointment has been made in the County, highlighting the severity of the Hepatitis C (HCV) epidemic, which affects 180,000 people in the County.
